Quick tips from our Medicinal Herb Instructor, Holly!

I sometimes wish I could sit down with Holly, from Little Red Bird Botanicals for a whole week and pick her brain because she’s so full of wonderful knowledge.  She just recently finished teaching our Spring Herb Growing & Remedies class this past weekend, and while I wish I could have listened to the whole thing, every time I popped in I heard something new and exciting. I thought I would share some of the tips I loved!




Calendula not only is a beautiful flower, but also great for medicinal purposes. Calendula has a variety of uses, but I learned from Holly that it is great for nourishing and cleansing the lymphatic system, which plays an important role in our immune system. Unless we exercise regularly, our bodies don’t have a great pumping mechanism to drain and cleanse our system. Drinking a calendula tea helps to keep a healthy flowing lymph!

Sun Burn Soother

Black tea, rose leaves, and blackberry leaves all can be used to sooth a bad sun burn. Brew the tea and let it cool. After soak a washcloth and lay it on your sunburn for a cooling and soothing effect for your burn. A quick and easy option if you don’t want to run to the store for aloe.
