Thanks to everyone who came out last weekend for NFI’s kickoff event/seed-giveaway courtesy of our non-profit sponsor, America the Beautiful Fund!

We had a hugely helpful group of AmeriCorps youth working with us, who were such hard workers they were able to build all our wood-chip horizontal pathways in under two hours!!

The youth were joined by about a dozen other volunteers, some checking out NFI for the first time–including our youngest little helper Emma!
A couple dozen community gardeners joined us for the seed give-away, as well as a local French TV station!
By the end of the day, volunteers had transplanted 4 trays of lettuce seedlings, and set up hoops and row-covers over a mixed bed of carrots and beets, another bed of spinach, and yet anther a bed of snap peas.

Please join us this Saturday April 4th at 8:30am for another transplanting workday– we’ll be moving several trays of brassicas from their temporary home in the greenhouse into the ground! Email neighborhoodfarm@gmail.com for more information… The workday will be followed by a potluck BBQ– please RSVP if you plan to attend!
